Magyar Telekom, Ericsson Team up for Network Upgrade

Hungarian telecom operator Magyar selected Ericsson to modernize its mobile network, according to a May 5, 2011 report by the Global Telecoms Business. It is reported that Ericsson will use a multi-standard radio access network to upgrade Magyar Telekom's 2G and 3G networks. Magyar Telekom is estimated to spend approximately US$167 million to upgrade its mobile broadband network in the next several years. At the initial stage, Magyar Telekom plans to deploy 200 new HSPA+ (High Speed Packet Access) base stations in Budapest, offering 21 Mbps mobile broadband.
